Have you ever turned a doorknob ever so slowly that you see how long you can make the door hinges creak and lose yourself in the slow notch after notch anticipating the darkness, relishing the excitement, holding on to the fear, inching your foot across the floor as your lean your quiet hand into the unknown and pay close attention to every slight move, breath, blink, swallow and your eyes awake to the dark acknowledging the faint shards of light and the mysterious yet known objects lying still in the dark and a hand up the wall and the switch and it all makes sense and the light bursts apart?
